Can I Say Goodbye at the Cremation?

Direct Cremations do not enable any mourners present at the actual cremation, please see below for more information, however you can say your goodbye's before the person is brought into our care and or afterwards with a Celebration of

Life Ceremony with their ashes.

We do have the Graceful Stag option, however, that enables up to 8 mourners to be present for the Direct Cremation in the Crematorium Chapel, which might be a better option for you and your family. Many families who choose this like to enhance their choices.

When organising a direct cremation or pure cremation as it is sometimes known it’s important to know aware that no mourners are present. The coffin is taken to the crematorium for an unattended simple committal without any ceremony.

At the time of the committal just because you are not present at the crematorium does not stop you from saying goodbye. There are many ways to honour your loved one such as lighting a candle, reading a poem or prayer. You may wish to take a walk or play the music the person loved or it could be that sitting quietly deep in thought reminiscing is right for you. It is important know that you do what feels right for you.

What are the positives to having a direct cremation?

For many people the driving factor for having a low-cost funeral is due to the fees involved. A full funeral can cost many thousands whereas a simple cremation is the most cost effective, with our fees from as little as £1555. For others, they just do not wish to hold a funeral service and instead plan to honour their loved one by organising a memorial service or celebration of life at a time and place that suits them, quite often with the ashes present.
